Wendy Tafla:
Project Coordinator
Nalmaluien Kape Ramar Mene
Wendy is an International Education Adviser working as a Consultant for
Community Development with a focus on Early Childhood and Primary
Education across developing world.
Born in New Zealand from British parents, Wendy now calls the island of
Tanna, Vanuatu down in the Pacific Ocean home.
Having spent time travelling and exploring more than 60 countries Wendy
has worked consistently since 1990 for children in countries as varied as
the hidden Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan, the Mt Everest region of Nepal,
the desert sands of Egypt and the Upper Nile, the breath taking lands of
Sudan, the deep blue seas of the Cook and Solomon Islands, alongside the
jungle villages and volcanic fires of Vanuatu and in the tribal lands of
Pakistan.
Working across incredible areas where cultures are as varied as one could
imagine, seeing the love, compassion and enthusiasm of the children,
communities and education teams has been inspiring.
For Wendy observing the diverse ways different cultures led her to support
the development of the indigenous initiative Nalmaluien Kape Ramar Mene:
Leadership for Community Development. A Non Government Organisation based
in Tanna, Vanuatu.
The NGO seeks to help communities articulate their visions and dreams to
preserve the unique island custom, culture and fragile environment
alongside seeking development opportunities.
